Outlast 2 rated R18+ in Australia *UPDATE*
"Hey remember all that stuff we said about refusing classification? Psyche!"28 Mar 2017
In a miraculous turn of events
The long awaited sequel to Outlast has been given an R18+ rating to our friends across the pond!
This came as quite a surprise, seeing as it was originally refused classification by the Australian Classification Board for containing themes such as rape, torture, and the usual violence you find in these sorts of video games, I got my jimmies rustled over this.
This change of heart has come with no impact to the original game. Meaning the game will ship unmodified and unchanged globally.
"Outlast 2 has been rated R18+ by the Classification Branch in Australia and will be released 26th April 2017. There will be only one version of Outlast 2 available worldwide,"
UPDATE: As of March 24th, the classification board have stated "the original version of the game that was refused classification has been modified to allow the game to be classified R18+" This feels like Left 4 Dead 2 all over again.
UPDATE: Fuck my life. OK, developer Red Barrels have just confirmed that the Australian version will ship unaltered, there will only be one version of Outkast 2, featuring the title track "Hey Ya"
Another win for the Australian gamers.
